Dear Farmingdale Family,

Happy New Year!!!

With a new year comes new and exciting events in this month of January. Look through your Pioneer for more information about these events.

We will be sewing for mission on Saturday, January 14 from 9-4, and I encourage every one to get in involved in this great project for St. John’s Hospital. It will be a way to reach their youngest surgical patients as each cap we sew with love and prayers will grace the head of a child or youth who will need surgery this coming year.

Youth Group & Kids Club will meet on Sunday, January 15 from 5-7pm. Come ready to eat and play in the new year.

A New Members Class has been tentatively scheduled for Sunday, January 22 after worship from 11:30am-2:30. We will learn about Farmingdale Presbyterian Church, what membership means, and how we can support our newest members.

In worship, we will celebrate Epiphany, Baptism & Communion, Installation of new officers, and commemorate our 177th year of ministry.

Our congregational annual meeting & Potluck will be on Sunday, January 29 after worship where we will reflect upon 2011 and the ministry growth in the life of our church as well as looking toward the future year and praying for God’s guidance for 2012.

Coming in February will be a retreat for Confirmation Class from Sunday, February 19 (following worship) through Monday, February 20 (through the afternoon). We will begin the confirmation process for our middle school and high school youth at this retreat and play together (hopefully in some snow).

Also, I want to wish everyone a Happy Anniversary!!! We have reached the one year mark in our relationship as pastor and congregation (January 3, 2010 is when I started my first day!). What a year it has been . . . gone much faster than I can believe. It’s been so much fun to be in ministry with you wonderful children of God. I have learned a great deal about Christ, God, and myself from you in addition to learning about Farmingdale. I look forward to our 2nd year together and many years to come!

Peace & humbly yours in Christ,

Pastor Lonna

Epiphany Worship Celebration at 10am

Thanks and Appreciation:  We would like to thank the congregation, our church family, for the very generous gift given to each of us…..it was very kind AND unexpected.  We know there are other members of our congregation that also donate many, many hours to the church – all gifts to God!  Thank you again for your generosity and thoughtfulness.

Blessings to All - Carolyn, Esther & Maebeth

Kick-off for Jr./Sr. High Sunday School:  On Sunday, January 8th, at 9:45 a.m., a kick-off is planned for the Jr./Sr. High Sunday School winter semester.  Breakfast will be available and there will be discussion as to what the youth want to study for the next month of class.

Mission Sewing Day:  This event will be held at church on Saturday, January 14th from 9 am-4 pm, and will include potluck lunch.  We will be making caps for children having surgery at St. John’s.  They need 300 a month.  Our goal on this day is to make 150.  We need volunteers to cut, sew, piece and work in the kitchen.  Donations of 1-yard pieces of kid-friendly fabric & thread & food gladly accepted.  Please come for a day of sewing, fun and doing the work of God for hospitalized children.
