Youth Ministry
Young people need to know that their parents and other adults love and care about them and this is especially important in the youth ministry of Farmingdale Presbyterian Church. We recognize that our youth do not have much free time to pursue all their dreams as the current trend regarding extracurricular activities requires substantial commitment from both youth and their parents.
Farmingdale Presbyterian Church has a gift of being a smaller church. The Christian education of our children receives special consideration and we continuously tailor curriculum and activities of our youth ministry to the age groups of available youth. We are thankful for the blessings of dedicated and talented youth ministry leaders. Their thoughtful support of our children will bear fruit for many years to come.
Encountering the biblical text is transformational and life-giving. The Holy Spirit moves through these words and into the hearts of our young people to reveal who God is and who we are in relation to our loving Creator. Our congregation provides broad support for their activities.
Sunday School
We welcome ages Pre-k through 12th grade. The youth class consists of One Room Sunday Schoolhouse curriculum. It includes stories from the Old and New Testaments so that youth grow together through comprehensive Bible study, application of Bible lessons to everyday discipleship, and a variety of age-appropriate activities. The Junior-Senior high class includes faith based DVD’s combined with discussion and Christian faith growing opportunities.
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
In early June, an action packed week for children ages Kindergarten through 6th grade takes place at the church in the evening. Children sing fun songs, work on crafts, learn a Bible story, have a snack and participate in recreation. Some of our older youth engage in VBS by making items for a mission project, assisting younger participants or engaging them in the more active recreation. This is a rich and joyful intergenerational ministry for our Congregation, a fun atmosphere where the week long engagement allows open space for everyone to connect and grow toward one another.
At the center of it all, Farmingdale Presbyterian Church recognizes that important things happen when the youth gather, as they grow faith in Jesus and learn what it means to be a community of God’s people.
